Any athletes participating in high school sports during the fall season and their parents, as well as junior high football athletes and parents, should plan to attend the meeting. Coaches will hand out important information, including team schedules and team rules at the meeting. Go Ducks!

For any incoming 6th-8th grade girls interested in JH softball this fall, practices will begin on Monday, July 24th from 3:30-5:30 PM at the junior high softball field behind the Havana Junior High School. Practices will continue all week (July 24-28) from 3:30-5:30 PM. A short parent meeting will take place after the first practice at the softball field starting at 5:30 PM. I am happy to share that Havana Schools will be moving to the Community Eligibility Program for next school year. The National School Food Service reimbursement program traditionally required families to verify income to determine if meals were free, reduced or paid. The Community Eligibility Program bases reimbursement on the demographics of the entire community and eliminates the individual family eligibility. This change will make 1 reimbursable breakfast and 1 reimbursable lunch at no cost to all students for the coming year regardless of family income. Money will only need to be deposited to purchase extra food items that exceed the standard breakfast or lunch offering going forward. This change will not affect any prior account balances from prior years and only apply to meals going forward. We are excited about this change and the benefit it will be to all families.
Another big thank you to the Mason District Hospital staff that came out today to provide free sports physicals to students in preparation for next school year! Just a reminder for those that may not have been able to attend the physical clinics at Havana High School this summer, a valid physical must be on file with the school for a student to participate in extracurricular activities. Make sure and get one scheduled and completed before extracurricular activities start this Fall. Those planning to attend, a staging area will be in the Havana High School cafeteria and the cave. Please enter at the back doors by the HS fitness center or the main gym entrance doors. All IHSA and IESA sports physical forms will be available upon arrival. Just a reminder that any student planning to participate in an extracurricular activity next school year must have a valid physical in order to participate.
